Ann Skinner - Director

Dance Dimensions began out of Ann Skinner’s passion for dance and the desire to pass this on. Having learned to dance at the age of 23 she was frustrated not to be able to find a place to dance that offered choices for adults as well as children. Her dream was to have somewhere for everyone to dance, just for the fun of It - no pressure of exams or competitions – and lots to choose from.

From her background as a Primary teacher, Ann had a good following with which to start her dream studio. This initial group of about 30 children grew as mums, friends, brothers, sisters and even grandmothers wanted to join to experience the smorgasbord of dance styles she was offering.

Ann has studied Jazz, Tap, Flamenco, Latin American,African, Middle Eastern, Funk and Hip-hop. A couple of trips to New York has helped her versatility. Ann teaches juniors and adults and just loves passing on her passion for dance.

Dayelle Hill

Dayelle’s style with it’s energy and funkiness are a wonder to behold. Her background is very much rooted in the dance and fitness industry. She was a personal trainer and Bodyjam instructor at Les Mills and is director of Dance Dimensions Hibiscus Coast at Silverdale which opened in 2001.

Dayelle’s classes benefit from her overseas experiences in Japan. Her team won the National Hip-hop Championship in 2001 and was choreographer for the FAI Warriors Cheerleaders. She manages the dance squad for The Breakers basketball team. Her Hiphop/Streetfunk classes have a great following.

Barbara Watson

I started ballet classes as a five year old and, with a couple of short breaks , have been dancing ever since. I got to Advanced level ballet and Elementary jazz. I also began learning tap as an adult. I have been teaching at Dance Dimensions Browns Bay since1994. I have qualifications in early childhood, primary and adult education. Although I have taught dance at all age groups I am currently teaching an adult’s jallet class. Jallet is a term I have coined myself to describe my choreographic style which combines the dynamics and strength of jazz with the lines and grace of ballet. I do not teach to a prescribed syllabus but rather teach the skills necessary for the choreography. I use a wide range of music and have been inspired by what someone once told me that “Dance is music made visible”. This phrase describes my choreographic process. I love the combination of creative expression, group dynamics and exercise that my class provides me. Seeing my ideas put into practice by a group of people is an amazing process. I love what the class creates together.
